ShortcutsPay - Setting up Afterpay on Terminal

 Overview and Regional Availability

Afterpay functions on Stripe Terminal by utilising virtual contactless cards, which customers add to their mobile wallets (such as Apple Pay or Google Pay). Please note that QR code-based payment methods are not available for Afterpay/Clearpay on Terminal.Supported Countries: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. 

 Activation Process - Does not have an existing Afterpay merchant account 

 Each merchant must first register for an Afterpay merchant account, if they do not have one already. Sign up here: https://get.afterpay.com/app/ After registering for an Afterpay Merchant account, look for an automated email from Afterpay with the subject line “Afterpay Card is ready for you to set up”. This email contains initial directions to complete a test transaction.You can finalise activation through one of two methods:

  • Test Transaction Method: Complete the test transaction as outlined in the onboarding email. This action automatically supplies Afterpay with the required configuration parameters for your business.
  • Manual Information Submission: If you operate multiple business locations, or if you prefer not to conduct a test transaction, you must manually compile your location data.

If opting for manual submission, gather the following metrics to provide to Afterpay: 

 Reply directly to the automated email titled “Afterpay Card is ready for you to set up” and append all gathered store metrics detailed in the table above. After processing your submission, Afterpay will provision and activate your Stripe Terminal hardware to accept Afterpay Card mobile wallet taps. 

 

 Activation Process - Does have an existing Afterpay merchant account 

 If you already have a Afterpay account gather the information listed below to provide to Afterpay. To start the process, complete this form https://afterpay.formstack.com/forms/global_merchant_technical_support 

 

 Scheme name: The statement descriptor for your Stripe account.

  1. Log in to Stripe.
  2. Go to Settings (cog icon top right) → Business → Business Details.
  3. Copy Statement Descriptor.

  Acquirer MID: Your Stripe account ID.

  1. Log in to Stripe.
  2. Go to Settings (cog icon top right) → Business → Account Details.
  3. Copy Account ID.
